Window Tint Shades and VLT, Explained

What does 35% actually mean? A plain-language guide to visible light transmission and choosing a shade.

VLT, or visible light transmission, is the percentage of visible light that passes through the glass and film together. A lower number means a darker tint.

Heat rejection is a separate measurement. Nano-ceramic films can reject most infrared heat even in light shades, so you don't need to go dark to stay cool.

Local regulations limit how dark front windows may be. Your installer will help you pick a shade that meets the rules where you live.
